‘Dream Green’- Eco club of East Calcutta Girls’ College

Eco Club is a working group that actively promotes the involvement of students in learning about their environment and its importants. The idea behind the Eco Club is to aware people, especially the students, about this issue and also organize themselves to learn how to deal with changes in the environment and take actions to improve the environment. For teachers, it is a great opportunity to bring attention and prepare students for such conditions in the real world, in a way in which the constraints of the classroom and class won’t allow.

  • East Calcutta Girls’ College established the Eco Club named ‘Dream Green’, where a group of individuals, works for improving environmental conditions, and also offers programmes and activities to encourage others to spread awareness on various environmental issues, reduce pollution and plant trees, etc. The primary objectives of the club were to motivate students to conserve the natural resources and the natural environment to create an eco-friendly environment and create awareness on biodiversity conservation and local environmental issues among the students to create a clean and green consciousness among them.
  • The ‘Dream Green’ Eco Club of East Calcutta Girls’ College conducts a tree plantation program at regular intervals in the college premises,
  • Eco club organizes several awareness programs on environmental problems, encourages environmentally friendly mushroom cultivation, and also spreads awareness on animals surrounding us through various programs such as ‘Squirrel feeding program’.
  • The members of the club encourage various nature study programs by visiting several places to learn about the flora and fauna of different regions. The Eco Club of the College also celebrates various significant and important days, such as ‘World Wildlife Day’ on March 3rd, ‘International Day of Biodiversity’ on May 22nd, ‘World Environment Day’ on June 5th, ‘World Nature Conservation Day’ on July 28th, and ‘World Rhino Day’ on September 22nd, to provide awareness about these special days and encourages to conserve the organisms and their habitats in the environment.
