About the Library

Library Overview

The library at East Calcutta Girls' College is a hub of academic resources, housing approximately 13,000 books along with e-books and periodicals. Online facilities like E-library, OPAC, and N-LIST are also available.

Saturday 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Borrowing Privileges

Patron Borrowing Limit
Student (Hons) 2 books for home issue + Book Bank (as available) + 1 book for reading issue
Student (General) 1 book for home issue + Book Bank (as available) + 1 book for reading issue
Teaching Staff 8 books for 1 month
Non-Teaching Staff 4 books for 1 month

Library Rules

  • Maintain silence inside the library.
  • Mobile phone usage and loud conversations are strictly prohibited.
  • Personal belongings should be kept outside the library.
  • Book issue slips must be filled between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM; books will be issued from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • Books must be returned within the due date to avoid fines of Rs.1/- per day per book.
  • Reference books and periodicals are for in-library use only, unless special permission is granted.
  • Book Bank facilities are available for deserving students upon submission of a Family Income Certificate.
  • Faculty and staff must return all borrowed materials and obtain a Library Clearance Certificate upon retirement or resignation.
  • Suggestions for library improvement are welcome and can be submitted in writing to the librarian.
