The Department of Physics of the East Calcutta Girls’ College was established in the year 1996 (Date of Affiliation with G.O. NO. & DATE: Pass: C/851/238-Affl dt: 05/09/1996). Till 2008, the department was under the University of Calcutta. From 2008 onwards, the department offers Physics as General Elective (GE) paper and Core paper for B. Sc. General course with Physics and follows the curriculum as designed by the West Bengal State University, Barasat i.e., the affiliating university of the college. The department has well equipped lab and efficient faculties. An academic calendar is prepared at the beginning of the session and is followed strictly for effective curriculum delivery. The department conducts multiple class tests and online exams for internal evaluation of the learning outcome of the students.
