The Department of Physics of East Calcutta Girls’ College was established in 1996 (Affiliation: C/851/238-Affl dated 05/09/1996). Initially under the University of Calcutta until 2008, the department now operates under the curriculum of West Bengal State University, Barasat.

It offers Physics as both a General Elective (GE) and Core subject for the B.Sc. General course. The department is equipped with modern laboratories and staffed by dedicated, efficient faculty members.

To ensure effective curriculum delivery, an academic calendar is prepared and strictly followed. The department also conducts regular class tests and online evaluations to monitor student learning outcomes.
