The Department of Sociology of East Calcutta Girls’ College was established in 2001 under the University of Calcutta and later re-affiliated to West Bengal State University in 2008. With a dedicated team of three faculty members, the department offers undergraduate Honours and General courses under both the 1+1+1 and CBCS semester systems. It boasts a departmental library and a structured academic calendar. The department emphasizes internal assessments through tests and online exams, and regularly organizes extension lectures, awareness programs, wall magazines, and national seminars.
