The Department of Sociology of East Calcutta Girls’ College was Established on 2001 G.O C/61/238- Affl: Dated 8/1/2001 under the University of Calcutta and further got re-affiliated to West Bengal State University on 2008. The department has three efficient faculties. The department provides courses to Under- Graduate Students (Honours and General) Under 1+1+1 system and also provides Semester system under CBCS. The Department has good number of books in the departmental Library for the teachers and students. An academic Calender is prepared at the beginning of the session and is followed strictly for the effective curriculum delivery. The department conducts multiple class test and online exams for internal evaluation of the learning outcome of the students. . The department frequently organises Extension Lecture, Wall Magazine, Awareness Programs etc. It had also organised National Seminars
