The Department of Political Science was established in 1992 during the early years of the college. It began modestly but has grown significantly to become one of the most dynamic departments. Honours courses started in 2001. The department has a robust faculty and actively encourages student engagement through activities like debates, quizzes, youth parliament sessions, and educational tours. With ICT-enabled classrooms, a departmental library, and a strong student body, the department has seen many of its alumni pursue higher education and careers in both public and private sectors.
