The Department of Philosophy at East Calcutta Girls’ College began in 1992 under the University of Calcutta with one teacher and three students. Honours courses were introduced in 2001. Currently affiliated with West Bengal State University, the department offers both Honours and General UG programs. With over 100 students and a dedicated faculty of three, including two full-time members, the department continues to promote philosophical inquiry and academic excellence.
